The President of the United States of America Donald Trump just said that North Korea’s nuclear and ballistic missiles program required a “determined response,” and that the era of “strategic patience” with North Korea’s government and the leader had finally ended.
“The era of strategic patience with the North Korean regime has failed. … Frankly, that patience is over,”
Trump made the above statement in the White House Rose Garden during a joint appearance with South Korean President Moon Jae-in.
“We’re working closely with South Korea and Japan, as well as partners around the world, on a range of diplomatic, security and economic measures to protect our allies and our own citizens from this menace known as North Korea,” Trump added.
US, China, Taiwan, North Korea In Dangerous Conflict Mode
Just hours before Trump’s statement China strongly protested a US plan to sell $1.4 billion worth of arms to Taiwan and demanded that the deal be canceled.
“We stress that nobody could sway our determination to uphold our territorial integrity and sovereignty,” Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Lu Kang said at a regular daily briefing. “We oppose any external interference in our internal affairs.”
