Are cannonballs on Mars proof of an ancient alien war?
Scott C Waring of the UFO Sightings Daily has released a video in which he claims to have definitive evidence that there was once a war on the planet Mars. However, other people are more skeptical about this claim and have proposed alternate theories.
Waring’s video calls attention to an image captured by NASA’s Mars Curiosity Rover which appears to quite clearly show an object that bears a striking resemblance to a spherical, metal cannonball. For Waring, the image is “100% evidence of a war on Mars.”
In the video, Waring establishes on the theory that this cannonball could be a remnant from an ancient war which was devastated the Red Planet. “I do believe these balls and millions of others were deliberately shot at Mars from space all at once to destroy their atmosphere, burn it away. What I mean is large enough man-made meteor shower could strip Mars of its atmosphere and thus, destroy all or most life on the planet surface, ” he explained.
Some people have suggested that Waring’s theory is very compelling given the fact that the cannonball-shaped object is unusually perfectly shaped in a spherical form and looks markedly different regarding colour and material from the other objects scattered around it. However, according to scientists, there is a rather simple explanation for the object.
According to the team of researchers from NASA working on the Curiosity Rover project, the cannonball-shaped object was created by a phenomenon called concretion. In this process, minerals build up into bubbles within the sedimentary rock at the bottom or lakes or oceans. As the minerals are comprised of hard substances and the sedimentary rock is weak and pliable, the rocks are left when the lakes dry up, and the sedimentary rock is eroded. Furthermore, it has been pointed out that the atmosphere on Mars is not destroyed and the Red Planet does, in fact, have an atmosphere, although it is much weaker than that on Earth.
Despite the fact that Waring’s view that there was once an explosive war on the Red Planet appears to be wrong, the round balls on the surface of Mars are considered to be incredibly exciting for another reason. The balls must have been formed underwater and therefore when they are discovered, they give researchers a valuable opportunity to map out the ancient landscape on the planet when it was covered with bodies of water. This could eventually lead to the discovery of the bacteria which is presumed to have once thrived on ancient Mars. Given the fact that certain micro-organisms are capable of surviving the conditions on the Red Planet it is entirely possible that these balls could lead researchers to the discovery of rudimentary extra-terrestrial life on Mars in the future.
